DeSean Jackson Wants to Be the Next Magic Johnson

Former NFL wide receiver DeSean Jackson recently expressed his desire to continue earning money even after making millions throughout his football career. In an interview on the No Jumper podcast, Jackson revealed that while he is grateful for the fortune he accumulated, he is eager to explore new avenues for financial growth.

Jackson stated that the millions he made playing football will be used for the benefit of his children. However, he emphasized the need to continue earning more money and mentioned his interest in private equity and real estate investments. He made it clear that he is looking beyond his NFL career and aspires to achieve success similar to that of basketball legend Magic Johnson.

“Right now, I still need bread, so I’m out here getting all type of stuff, going private equity, real estate,” Jackson said. “Sh*t, f*ck the NFL. That sh*t was cool, but what’s next? I’m trying to go touch some Magic Johnson-type sh*t.”

Jackson announced his retirement from the NFL earlier this year as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, signing a one-day contract with his former team. Throughout his career, he played for various teams including Washington, Tampa Bay, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Baltimore. Known for his explosive speed and playmaking ability, Jackson had multiple seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards. One of his most memorable moments came in 2010 when he returned a 65-yard punt for a touchdown against the New York Giants as time expired.

Looking ahead, Jackson wants to emulate Magic Johnson’s off-field success. He envisions a career that involves investing in businesses and potentially owning sports teams. Jackson aims to follow in the footsteps of Johnson, who has been highly successful in multiple endeavors, including business ventures and ownership of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

“The hustler I am, I ain’t satisfied with the money I made in the NFL,” Jackson said. “I would meet you today, and you wouldn’t even think I made $100 plus million in the NFL.”

While Jackson’s aspirations may seem ambitious, it is not uncommon for athletes to seek financial opportunities beyond their playing careers. Many athletes have successfully transitioned into business ventures, entrepreneurship, and ownership positions. Jackson’s determination to continue earning and explore new avenues for wealth creation showcases his drive and ambition.

As Jackson embarks on this new chapter, only time will tell if he can achieve the level of success he desires. However, his determination and willingness to step outside the confines of football bode well for his future endeavors.
