Ken Hudson Campbell, the actor famous for playing Santa in “Home Alone,” has received some great news. Doctors have successfully removed the cancer that had been spreading in his mouth. This comes as a relief to Ken and his family, as they have been eagerly awaiting this outcome.

Ken’s daughter, Michaela, shared with TMZ that her father underwent surgery on Thursday morning, and the procedure went smoothly. The family was able to visit him later that night once he was out of the operating room. Although Ken will remain in the intensive care unit for another 2-3 days, he is awake and doing well. It will take about 6 weeks for him to fully recover and resume his normal activities.

This health scare started when Ken was diagnosed with cancer in October. A tumor had grown on the bottom of his mouth and was encroaching on his teeth. Michaela set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the medical expenses since Ken lost his SAG-AFTRA health insurance at the beginning of last year due to the pandemic. The response has been overwhelming, with donations pouring in. They have already raised over $96,000 of their $100,000 goal.

Notable celebrities have also contributed to the cause. Jeff Garlin and Tim Meadows each donated $1,000, while “The Big Bang Theory” creator Bill Prady donated $5,000. Steve Carell, a long-time friend of Ken from their time in Second City Chicago improv, generously donated $10,000. The family is extremely grateful for all the support they have received.

Although Ken’s cancer has been removed, he still has a long road ahead. He will need to undergo reconstructive surgery, as well as radiation and possibly chemotherapy. These treatments come with a lengthy 6-month recovery period. However, crossing this huge hurdle of successfully removing the cancer is a significant step forward.

Ken’s story serves as a reminder of the importance of regular check-ups and early detection in fighting cancer. It also highlights the power of community and support during difficult times. The outpouring of love and financial assistance from friends, family, and even strangers has made a remarkable difference in Ken’s journey towards recovery.
