“The Big Bang Theory” star and comedian Kate Micucci recently revealed that she is battling lung cancer. The shocking diagnosis came as a surprise to Micucci, as she has never smoked a day in her life.

Micucci shared the news with her fans on TikTok over the weekend, stating that she had undergone surgery to remove the cancer and is currently recovering in the hospital. She expressed gratitude that the cancer was detected early, allowing for successful treatment.

What is particularly puzzling to Micucci is the fact that she has never smoked, yet still ended up with lung cancer. However, she remains positive and hopeful throughout the ordeal.

While smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer, it is important to note that about 15 percent of cases are linked to other factors such as secondhand smoke, asbestos, and various chemicals, according to the World Health Organization.

In the video, Micucci can be seen walking around the hospital with the assistance of staff members. She even poses for the camera with her typical hospital meal, which consists of a small box of cereal and a banana.

Fans of “The Big Bang Theory” will remember Micucci for her role as Lucy, Raj’s love interest, in several episodes. She has also appeared in numerous other projects, including “DuckTales,” “The Little Hours,” “Garfunkel and Oates,” “Raising Hope,” “Steven Universe,” and she has been the voice of Velma in “Scooby-Doo” since 2015.

Micucci is also married and has a 3-year-old son with her husband, Jake Sinclair, who is a songwriter and producer for artists like Taylor Swift, Weezer, and Panic! at the Disco.

Despite the scare, Micucci is on the road to recovery and is maintaining a positive outlook. Her story serves as a reminder that lung cancer can affect anyone, regardless of their smoking history, and highlights the importance of early detection and treatment.
