Tesla Cybertruck Faces Safety Concerns Due to Sharp Design

The Tesla Cybertruck is once again making headlines, but this time it’s not for its futuristic design or impressive features. The sharp edges and stiff structure of the Cybertruck have raised safety concerns for everyone else on the road.

The Center for Auto Safety, a group founded by Ralph Nader, has criticized the Cybertruck for being dangerous due to its sharp design and rigid structure. In a tweet, the organization stated, “It’s desperate and dangerous to everyone else on the road. Stop being picked last.” The group also jokingly commented that driving a Cybertruck would leave no doubt about one’s “manhood” and that purchasing the vehicle is akin to being picked last in a lineup.

While some may view these comments as mean-spirited, this is not the first time that auto safety experts have expressed concerns about the safety of Tesla’s latest offering. Former president of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, Adrian Lund, pointed out a potential issue with the Cybertruck’s stiff stainless-steel exterior. He stated, “The big problem there is if they really make the skin of the vehicle very stiff by using thick stainless steel, then when people hit their heads on it, it’s going to cause more damage to them.”

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has previously defended the safety of the Cybertruck, claiming that it will be much safer per mile than other trucks, both for occupants and pedestrians. However, these recent safety concerns raise questions about the vehicle’s overall safety credentials.

In terms of durability, the Cybertruck has already showcased its strength. During a demonstration, the vehicle’s bulletproof body withstood shots from a 0.45 Caliber Tommy gun, a 9mm Glock, and a 9mm MP5-SD. While the shots caused dents on the steel body, they did not penetrate the chassis.

The concern now lies with the potential danger the Cybertruck poses to pedestrians and other road users. There is a risk that the vehicle may not be approved for sale in Europe due to regulations that require the front of the vehicle to have less stiffness.

As the controversy surrounding the Cybertruck’s safety continues, it remains to be seen how Tesla will address these concerns. In the meantime, it is clear that the unique design of the Cybertruck is not only polarizing, but it also raises legitimate questions about its impact on road safety.

In conclusion, while the Tesla Cybertruck’s design may be eye-catching and bold, it is important to address the safety concerns that have been raised. As the automotive industry moves towards electric and autonomous vehicles, ensuring the safety of all road users should be a top priority.
